Ch. 11 - Developing and Managing Products

Sephora develops new products with a focus on package design that takes into account the background of the people in its target market such as local culture and age.

Above is the photo of Sephora's new product. This is called Shopping Bag Makeup Palette. It has 9 eye shadows, 1 blush and 4 lip colors. You can see Sephora is focused on this product's packaging. The packaging is designed to make the product look unique. Price is in the middle range. 


In Asia, their product line takes on more of a local focus: how to make Asian people's skin look natural, whiter and healthier.Whitening Night Moisturizer is one of the products featured in the Asian market. In the Asian market, their price is in the high range. 



This Age Defy Night Moisture Cream is a new product here. The price is in the middle range. For this product, their target market is for age 40 plus.  


At the Sephora store, you can see products are organized by category. While Sephora products are next to other brand products, their products get better placement. For example, they are placed close to the entrance or aisle so as customers walk by, Sephora products are seen more clearly.
